Weeping Icon announces new album and shares Ripe for Consumption at Stereogum

Today, Brooklyn's Weeping Icon are announcing their debut full length with the premiere of the album's first single, "Ripe For Consumption" on Stereogum. A self-titled release, the album follows the band's 2017 EP Eyeball Under, and will be out on Fire Talk and Kanine Records on September 27th.  Preorder green vinyl at Kanine or at Bandcamp.

The band have been fixtures of the NYC DIY music and art scenes, both as a unit and in several guises as individuals, including stints in the celebrated and sorely missed post-punk band ADVAETA, and the noise project Lutkie.  Weeping Icon have developed a reputation as one of the city's more engaging live acts, with a sound that blends punk aggression with meditative compositions, goth aesthetics and pure noise experimentation. "Ripe For Consumption" provides a hint of the way the album captures the band's mesmeric live performances, flashing Hawkwindesque bass turnarounds, waves of distortion and a vocal performance that falls somewhere between Christian Death's Rozz Williams and Bikini Kill's Kathleen Hanna in a three and half minute squall concerning the cynical transformations frequently undergone by newly professional artists.

The band expand on the song and video in conversation with Stereogum.

Ripe for Consumption is streaming today at Spotify and at Apple.

Honey Cutt shares new single Suburban Dream

Boston based trio Honey Cutt is led by Kaley Honeycutt (vocals, guitar) who relocated from her sunny, suburban town in Central Florida to Boston where she sought out new musical friends. Enter Ari Blut (bass) and Chris Chew (drums), and BABY! is born. Wait… Baby!? Yes, Honeycutt, the youngest of seven children initially wanted to embrace her over sharing sensibilities and crybaby moniker. But the name proved unsearchable and the trio was content to rebrand themselves simply, and more uniquely, Honey Cutt (2 words).

Hooking up with Brooklyn independent label Kanine Records, Honey Cutt is excited to release new single Suburban Dream. Honeycutt says, “Suburban Dream is a tongue in cheek song that I wrote to help process my feelings about all society’s expectations projected onto me growing up in Florida.” The song balances the hopelessness of being stuck in one place all your life with the feeling of sheer determination and desperation to break out. With the promise of this new single and an upcoming full-length album, Honey Cutt is set to do just that.
