We’ll admit it, we’re not too good at keeping secrets. We just get too excited about new artists, new music and new releases. You might have caught on since we attended all their shows at their Pianos residency, and then booked them for our Northside Fetsival showcase (Eardrum has pics of Zambri here). But we are finally happy to announce the signing of ZAMBRI, which is, officially, the NY based sister act Jessica and Cristi Jo. Their debut EP Glossolalia is set for release November 8th, 2011.
Dueling female vocals? Check. Pop songs with a slight goth tinge? Check. Strange sounds built from singing through three different mics at once? Check. There we go getting excited again. Here’s the official line:
Zambri mixes experimental beats and dueling female vocals with captivating melodies to create unromantic love songs. Filled with gothic and avant-garde pop vocals, the songs might sound familiar, like a lost Siouxsie and the Banshees or Kate Bush classic, but they manage to bring it to an altogether new place. As if remixed by Gang Gang Dance, Zambri lands perfectly amid contemporaries Health, Grimes, Lykke Li, and The Knife.
To bring Zambri’s radical-pop sound to the stage, the sisters are joined by Will Spitz and Seth Kasper (live drums and keyboard).
