Kanine Records signs Swedish quintet Agent blå, stream ‘Strand’
Agent blå is a quintet of teenagers ranging in age from 17 – 20, from Gothenburg, Sweden. With the release of their first single Strand in December 2015, Agent blå burst into the indie community of Scandinavia with their own brand of death pop – a combination of goth rock, dream pop and post-punk.
Their names translates in English to Agent blue, which may sound caustic, indeed it was the go to arsenic in the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and for Agatha Christie and the Borgias, but it is known as an exceedingly stable compound. It’s a fitting name for a band whose music is anything but sweet. Their brand of indie pop has particularly dark overtones. Bursting with the exuberance of youth, their sound is packed full of emotion: hope, frustration, and everything in between.
Working with Sweden’s brilliant indie Luxury Records, Agent blå has been releasing singles to the delight of Scandinavia and those outside of the territory that happen upon them. Stereogum says of Strand “Crafting enormous, spiraling hooks out of a few guitar parts and rage-inflicted vocals that split the difference between heartbreak and total indifference” and Gold Flake Paint says “Agent blå exude icy coolness while delivering something vehemently mystical.”
Kanine Records has signed the band for the US and is starting by re-releasing the first three singles every Friday in March with new music and debut album details to follow on March 24th!
