Flowers can’t remember why they were scrolling through the BFI’s YouTube channel or what they were looking for, but they happened across Marjorie Hillick, the “Maud Allan of the Skies” performing a dance on an uncompleted New York skyscraper. They immediately fell in love with the images, how beautiful and eerie it is at the same time. There’s a smile in her face though it’s actually quite dangerous what she’s doing and that makes it all seem quite sinister. When it came time to create a video for lead single “Joanna,” Flowers remembered viewing the 1921 footage, and it seemed perfect. They just had to retrace a few Internet searches to rediscover it for a second time. View "Joanna" at the right via YouTube.
